Although small and of of poor quality these photographs show an abandoned Japanese aeroplane found at Meiktila in Burma by advancing Allied troops.
It carries the tail code "C1-05". What is it?

Your mystery plane looks like a "Babs" or a Mitsubishi C5M Type 98 Land Reconnaissance.
The spatted wheels and the long greenhouse are the key ID points.

Thanks Carlos. You are the only person who has ventured a suggestion for this aircraft's identity and it is a good one.
However, the aircraft is actually a Mitsubishi B5M1 "Mabel".
Hi Nick! I was just gonna e-mail you to say it's a B5M when I noticed the "2 comments" link :)
These surprise shots are some of only a very few photos of operational Mabels. Thanks.
