This small photograph, taken in Malaya at the end of the war, shows a derelict Ki-15 'Babs' reconnaissance aeroplane in an unusual camouflage scheme. The BBC identified it as a "Mitsubishi Zero"!

Great find, Nick.

Are there any other views of this machine that would confirm it as a Ki.15-I or Ki.15-II? It appears to have a white tip or stripe at the top of its vertical fin.

Sorry Ken, only the one that I could find and not a very clear shot at that. Agree the white fin tip. The tight mottle is exceptionally neatly and skillfully applied, reminding me of a similar camouflage pattern seen on some 50th Sentai Ki-43 II in Burma. A local depot "house style" perhaps?
Hi anyone have any idea if there is anymore crash site in malaya?
